ADA...the legal stuff
The Federal Government recognizes that people
with disabilities have a right to full and fair consideration for any
job for which they apply.
The ADA strives to offer an environment in which all can reach their highest
potential and make a difference for our country.
People with disabilities are America's largest and fastest growing minority,
and are now 54 million strong. The ADA has a profound impact on people
with disabilities, you the employers who work with these individuals,
and all members of our society. If your company has 15 or more employees,
then it is imperative that you comply with the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA).
The act mandates that employers may not deny a job to a qualified applicant
with a disability solely on the basis of the disability. The ADA goes
one step further than many other anti-discrimination laws employers may
be familiar with, by requiring employers to make reasonable accommodations
for otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities.
Since the ADA may pose significant liability for employers, we suggest
that your company educate itself as to the requirements of the law. Browse
