Business Etiquette

Practicing good etiquette will impress employers with your professional and polite demeanor. Review the Career Center's tips on Business Etiquette to become familiar with the proper protocol.

For a person with a disability it is also important to consider Disclosure Etiquette.

There are many disclosure options available.

If your disability is not hidden and may produce a "Shock Factor" at the moment of meeting with an employer, you may want to consider disclosing when the employer calls for an interview. Without "Shock Value" an employer may feel more comfortable and not be as distracted by your disability.

Handling your disability issues in a clear and non-threatening way will give you the opportunity to present yourself and your qualifications.

The focus should always be on evaluating your abilities not your disabilities.
