Thank You Letter

A written thank you should be sent after all interviews.

"Thank you" is a powerful statement that is not heard often enough. Thank you letters ought to be standard tools in your job search.

When thanking a potential employer, restate your interest in the position and/or company. Be brief and to the point. Tell the person when and how they can expect to hear from you in the future.

The thank you is an opportunity to restate your qualifications and to reemphasize your skills and abilities.

Basic Parts of a Thank You Letter
  • Statement of appreciation for the interview.
  • Expression of interest in employment.
  • Brief restatement of qualifications.
  • Final "Thank You".

Sample Thank You Letter
Dear Mr. Stern,

Thank you for the interview for the human resource assistant position today. I appreciate the information you shared with me and enjoyed meeting the staff from the Human Resource Department.

My interest in working for Queen's Industries is stronger than ever, and based on my visit today and your description of the position, I know I can do a great job for you. As you discovered today, my hearing loss does not affect my excellent communication skills or ability to excel at this position.

Again thank you for your time and I will contact you by Tuesday of next week to learn of your decision.

Sincerely,
Tyra Kyles
