Internships & Co-ops

Be Prepared, Be Confident, Be Hired

Lack of related experience is a major barrier to finding a job after you graduate especially for students with disabilities. An internship is the ideal way to:

  • Obtain hands on experience in your field that will allow you to determine whether the career you are considering is one you will enjoy and succeed at. Additionally, it will provide you with the opportunity to determine if you will need accommodations on the job and which accommodations work best for you in the workplace environment.

  • Build a network of career contacts to utilize when you're entering the work world.

  • Develop skills in your field and make yourself a more attractive candidate to employers. A successful internship shows future employers that you do have the ability to succeed in the job.

Employers are looking for you! Explore Disability Internship Programs to find out how to connect with them.

Additionally, the SJSU Career Center offers a variety of services that will help you research, identify, and connect with employers during your search for the right internship or co-op opportunity.
